Raising A Reader, Massachusetts

Project Description

Raising A Reader MA (RAR-MA) is an evidence-based, early literacy and family engagement organization that supports parents with young children (birth through age 6), in high-need communities, to build a literacy-rich home environment fostering language, reading, and school readiness skills. RAR-MA’s model includes engaged community partnerships, parental outreach, dialogic reading education, and a weekly Red Bag book rotation (with age-appropriate books) for the children they serve. Their goal is to empower all parents and caregivers as agents of change, as their child’s first teacher. This exposure of infants and young children to reading significantly helps to eliminate the literacy opportunity gap in Massachusetts. The Darwin Project is a champion of early education intervention and with its financial support, Raising A Reader MA continues to help children to achieve academic success for a lifetime of opportunities.
