The Global Surgery Student Alliance, Inc. (GSSA) is a national, student-run, non-profit organization that aims to educate, inspire, and unite students through engagement and mentorship in an effort to achieve their vision of sustainable and accessible surgical, obstetric, and anesthesia care worldwide. GSSA is the global surgery working group for the US and is affiliated with the International Student Surgical Network (InciSioN). Through the support of the Darwin Project, GSSA is currently embarking on creating a global surgery curriculum.
The Darwin Project continues to provide the primary funding for the Global Surgery Student Alliance (GSSA). This US student-run, non-profit organization aims to educate, inspire, and unite students through engagement and mentorship in an effort to achieve their vision of sustainable and accessible surgical, obstetric, and anesthesia care worldwide. Since their inception in 2018, GSSA has made great strides in expanding their network, developing educational videos on global surgery, creating a global surgery curriculum, and inspiring medical students to engage in Global Surgery initiatives and possibly choose Global Surgery as their professional specialization.
